Aeration With Water Restrictions

Thank you for scheduling your fall aeration, seeding, fertilization, and liming with Southern Exposure Landscape Management.  Below are some suggestions on making the process a success.

Before Service  (Water Restriction Customers)
• If we have not had adequate rain, water the lawn thoroughly on the day you can legally water.  A solid deep soaking is recommended.  If there is a lack of moisture in the ground at time of aeration the aerators will not be able to pull good plugs and will impact the overall desired result.  If you can easily get a screw driver into the ground without a lot of weight or force, the soil is moist enough for good aeration.
• Please mark all irrigation heads and valve boxes as underground pet fences (or any shallow wires or cables.)  Southern Exposure can not accept responsibility for any unmarked objects. A charge of $20 will be billed for lawns that need to be marked.
• Please mow (or have us mow) your lawn lower than usual to allow good seed-soil contact.

After Service (Water Restriction Customers)
• Water the lawn thoroughly on the day you can legally water.
• Skip mowing for at least one week (longer if possible).
• Mow the new grass when it is of mowing height being careful of turns with the mower as the young grass is shallowly rooted.

Special Notes
• It is Southern Exposure’s policy that if a rogue storm washes the seed, we will perform the service again for ½ price.
• We will provide wheat straw where lawn is bare free of charge for customers under a maintenance contract, and at a rate of $8.00 per bale for customers outside a service contract.  This price includes the labor and material.
• Water restrictions can impact seed germination success greatly if we do not get adequate rain.  However, the only guarantee you have is if you do nothing – you are assured to have nothing.  If we get good weather, this process should be successful even with restrictions.
